Wine info
Wine name
Giacosa Fratelli Dolcetto d'Alba
Wine remark
Originally from the high hills of The Langhe. Among other names, it is also called "Ormeasca". It feels as much at home in Alba and surrounding areas as it does in Dogliani. Characterized by relatively fast ripening, it owes its name to the sweetness of its fruit which in addition to producing an excellent wine is excellent eaten fresh. It is a particularly suitable companion for "soma d'aj", a typical Piedmontese treat. The bunch is pyramidal and medium-sized. The grapes are round, deep blueish-black and irregular in size.
DOLCETTO D'ALBA
Controlled Denomination of Origin
Son of the vine of the same name, Dolcerro is an excellent red table wine whose production covers a vast territory. It varies from zone to zone in relation to its alcoholic content and the extracts obtained. Even though it is best when young, it allows short ageing in particularly good vintages. Then, its quality improves considerably. Contrarily to its name, Dolcerro is a dry wine, never sweet.
Vine variety: Dolcetto.
Colour: ruby red with a tendency towards violet.
Nose: winey, cool, intense and pleasant.
Palate: dry, pleasantly bitterish, good-bodied.
Minimum alcohol: 11 .5° C
Ageing: best when young but some months' ageing improves its characteristics.
Storage: horizontally, in a dry and cool place at a constant temperature.
Serving tips: at room temperature (16° C). Typical table wine that matches any dish.
