Wine remark
The hilly area to the right of the Tanaro river, a territory that includes, either part or all of the following Communes: Barolo, Casriglione Fallero, Serralunga, La Morra, Monforre, Novello, Verduno,, Grinzane Cavour, Diano d'Alba, Roddi and Cherasco, is the home of the Nebbiolo that will give birth to Barolo. It is not only the most ancient and latest harvested of our vines, but it is also the most noble. On ripening, the grapes are covered in a thick bloom blurring their colour.
Maybe this is the reason why this variety is called Nebbiolo ("nebbia" being the Italian for "fog").
BAROLO
Controlled and Guaranteed Denomination of Origin
Barolo is the most austere and noble son of a great vine: Nebbiolo.
Bitter when young, it loses its harshness to become gentle and modifies its organolepric characteristics after ageing in oak casks for no less than 3 years (an imperative requisite to obtain the Controlled and Guaranteed Deno-mination of Origin). Barolo, the unmistakable nectar of prominent personality is without doubt one of the best wines in the world.
Colour: from ruby red it turns into garnet red with ageing.
Nose: ethereal and reminiscent of roses, deeply tarry, pervasive and persistent.
Palate: dry, full-bodied, harmonious and velvery.
Ageing: suitable for long ageing (minimum 3 years)
Storage: horizontally, in dark places at a constant temperature.
Serving tips: at room temperature (about 18°C). Excellent with beef, pork and mutton (either roast, grilled or broiled on the spit) or with game.
