A synonym for Sangiovese that is used in the DOC of Scansano, which is located in the province of Maremma on the southern coast of Tuscany. Morellino di Scansano can be a better value but just as good as some of the Chianti Classicos from further to the north. The area of Maremma is hot in both temperature and current wine-buying trends.
